Instructions
- Click on My ATI
- Under the Learn tab, you’ll find a dropdown box labeled “Type”
- Using the dropdown, select Video Case Studies RN 3.0
- On the Video Case Studies RN 3.0 page, click Modules (70)
- Once on that screen, click the dropdown box labeled Content Area and select “Leadership and Management”
- Scroll down until you find “Leadership and Management: Assignment, Delegation and Supervision”, Select Begin Case
As you watch the video, consider the following questions:
- What are the key principles that a registered nurse should consider when delegating tasks to other healthcare personnel?
- What are three tasks that a registered nurse may assign to a licensed practical nurse, and three tasks that a registered nurse may assign other assistive personnel?
DO NOT respond to the questions following the video case study. Instead, write 200–250 words responding to the discussion prompts provided. Then, respond to at least two of your peers’ posts.
Discussion Prompts
- What additional information would be important for the RN to know when making daily patient care assignments? Why is this information pertinent to the RN?
- Choose at least two leadership concepts that are important to embrace when working with other healthcare providers. How do these concepts impact interprofessional collaboration?
- Identify two tasks that can be assigned to a licensed practical nurse, and two tasks that can be assigned to unlicensed assistive personnel. What is the nurse’s responsibility in assigning these tasks?
