Evidence-Based Practice at Work in the Health Care Setting

Directions:

After studying Module 1: Lecture Materials & Resources, discuss the following:

  • Identify a problem, issue, or challenge at your clinical practicum site. Share with the class:
  • Why is this a problem or gap in practice? Articulate the problem and its significance from a global, national, and local perspective, and then conclude by discussing the problem within the practicum site.
  • Describe the clinical setting in detail, including the type of setting, location, a typical client’s description, common diagnoses, and the number of patients the facility sees daily.
  • Describe the population of interest in detail. How many individuals will participate in your project? How will you recruit them? Consider if you would exclude any from participating.
  • What data from the clinical site supports the identified gap?

 

Submission Requirements:

  • Your initial post should be at least 400 words, formatted and cited in current APA style with support from at least 2 academic sources.  Your initial post is worth 8 points.
  • You should respond to at least two of your peers by extending, refuting/correcting, or adding additional nuance to their posts. Your reply posts are worth 2 points (1 point per response.) 
  • All replies must be constructive and use literature where possible.
  • Please post your initial response by 11:59 PM ET Thursday, and comment on the posts of two classmates by 11:59 PM ET Sunday.
  • You can expect feedback from the instructor within 48 to 72 hours from the Sunday due date.
