define the various roles of rods and cones.
Our ‘mind’ interprets the visual world around us as an unitary phenomenon, but is vision really just one sense? We are going to deconstruct the visual world in this series of postings. We are going to start off with the basic visual receptors on the retina—define the various roles of rods and cones. Where are the majority of rods located? where are the majority of cones located? where do we find the bipolar cells and the ganglion cells? in relation to the rods and cones? Finally, where do the signals from the retina go in the brain? (2 areas) in which area is the “vision” finally destined to go and be understood?
