Emotional Intelligence and Conflict Management)
– LEADERSHIP M6, D1 (Emotional Intelligence and Conflict Management):
In completing this activity, you will demonstrate the ability to apply the concept of emotional intelligence to leaders’ roles in conflict resolution.
Individuals with high emotional intelligence (EI) have been found to be more effective leaders. Read about emotional intelligence and respond to the following:
Discuss the role of EI in conflict management and resolution. How would the lack of emotional intelligence in a leader impact conflict resolution? Give an example to support your answer.
Be certain to integrate the readings and research from the online library to support your opinions. You must cite your sources in text and include multiple references in addition to the textbook for your initial response and your replies.
By Day 4 of the week:
Post your primary response.
By Day 7 of the week:
Respond to two or more of your colleagues’ postings in one or more of the following ways:
Address a colleague’s analysis and evaluation of the topic(s).
Expand or remark upon a colleague’s integration of relevant resources.
Answer question(s) posed by your colleague(s) for further discussion.
Link a colleague’s posting to other postings or to course materials and concepts, where appropriate and relevant.
Extend or constructively challenge your colleagues’ work.

– BUSINESS M6, D1 RISK MANAGEMENT SCENARIO:
Read the following scenario and provide your thoughts on how the company should proceed:
“You are a project manager for ABC Company. The company wants to purchase new equipment, train employees on the equipment, and then fully integrate this equipment into the company’s day-to-day processes. You developed a plan that detailed how and when the equipment will be obtained, the timeframe for training employees, and how the equipment will be fully integrated. The equipment arrived on the scheduled date, but you soon realized you forgot to include a plan that outlines how employees will be trained on the equipment. Training is scheduled to start in three days, but without a plan you do not know what to teach the employees about the equipment. The plan has already been initiated and time and resources have already used.”
For this discussion, you will need to compose a substantive post that details a simple solution for the company’s problem. The goal of the company is not to completely abandon the project as they have already put in time and resources. After identifying the solution, consider how you plan to implement it. Since you are a manager you need to put your solution into action.
Reply to at least two of your peers’ initial threads. Debate the initial argument and evidence in a small group of three.
Compose a response to either support or refute the initial entry. You don’t have to agree with the side you write about; you just need to demonstrate critical thinking.
There should be only one response per thread to support and one response per thread to refute the initial solution. If a side has already been argued, choose another side or another thread.
Once there are at least two perspectives written about each initial thread, you can continue to explore other perspectives in each of your small groups.
Things to Remember!
Post a 2 to 4 paragraph discussion post (300 words minimum). Justify your explanations by including in-text citations and references in APA format as applicable.
Post your primary response on the discussion board by Thursday at 11:59 pm ET. Be sure to review your writing for grammar and spelling before posting. Read any postings already provided by your instructor or fellow students.
Read and respond to at least two of your classmates. Remember to read the feedback to your own major postings and reply to it throughout the module.

– M6, A1 PROCESS IMPROVEMENT PLAN: RISK MANAGEMENT:
At this point you have identified the organization and the deficient process, created a proposal for a new process, and determined the needed resources and your budget. You will now conduct a risk assessment based on this information. What can go wrong when integrating the process? You might consider conflicts between stakeholders. Not everyone will agree with new process. Does your organization have a change management policy or process? If not, what is the risk of proceeding with integrating the new process? Consider this and more as you perform your risk assessment.
After identifying the risks, you should provide some details on how you plan to manage that risk. For instance, if the risk is a lack of a change management system, then you could provide a strategy to effectively implement the new process without a formal system.
This paper should:
Be 3 to 4 pages in length.
Be supported by research.
Identify the risks associated with the new process.
Include a plan to overcome these risks.
Include an explanation as to how you plan to use your chosen management theories in order to manage the identified risks of implementing the new process.
Consider the results that different theories have and whether or not your chosen theory has the most effective approach.
Consider reviewing the Health and Safety Executive website as it provides various examples of risk assessments.
Things to Remember!
Your paper should be a minimum of 3 pages, not counting a cover page or reference page.
Justify your research by including in-text citations and references.
Format following APA guidelines.
Compose your work using a word processor (or other software as appropriate) and save it frequently to your computer. Be sure to check your work and correct any spelling or grammatical errors before you upload it. When you are ready to submit your work, click “Browse My Computer” and find your file. Once you have located your file, click “Open” and, if successful, the file name will appear under the Attached files heading. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Submit.”
