For this week’s discussion, please share your thoughts on leading, following, and the context in which they occur. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • What relationship exists between leaders, followers, and the context in which they occur? How do different contexts under the umbrella of health care impact leadership?
  • Think about your own style of followership. What kind of follower are you? Think of a specific time you were a follower. Provide the context for the situation. How did your follower type, thinking style, and level of engagement impact the leader and follower relationship and the outcome of the situation?
  • What dynamics need to be considered when leading a team comprised of members from diverse backgrounds? Explore different ideas you find online and share them.
  • Consider the role of power and influence in leadership. Explain the positive and negative aspects of power and influence in leadership.
