Please watch Winston Churchill’s speech to the Joint Session of Congress during World War II and FDR’s speech declaring war on Japan after Pearl Harbor. What specific phrases or use of language did Churchill and FDR employ to both reassure the people that their government will fight for their democratic rights and to get the support from Congress to back the war efforts ?
