Older adults experience disproportionately higher rates of diabetes-related morbidity and mortality, making effective glycemic control a critical priority. Poor glycemic control is associated with increased microvascular and macrovascular complications, higher hospitalization rates, and escalating healthcare costs. Therefore, evidence-based strategies that enhance guideline adherence, promote behavior change, and improve patient engagement are essential in primary care settings.

In adults aged 65 years and older with type 2 diabetes in primary care (P), how does FNP-led motivational interviewing aligned with national diabetes guidelines (I), compared with standard diabetes education (C), affect hemoglobin A1C reduction and goal attainment (O) over six months (T)?

Utilizing your Literature review from earlier in the course, summarize and critique the relevant studies based on its design.
