Defining the behavioral health care managment (BHM) field
With greater awareness of behavioral health issues as well as reduced stigma associated with seeking treatment, there has been increased demand for behavioral health care. Many agencies, such as HMOs, federal and state agencies (e.g., VA), etc., have recognized this trend and have started to establish behavioral health care units in a variety of settings such as hospitals and independent clinics to address this need. This has led to an emerging need for people to lead and manage behavioral health units.
The focus of this week’s first Discussion is on examining the key components and challenges of the behavioral health care leadership and management field and how these relate to your career interests.
